| Let me be the first to say this, District 9 is the best movie I've ever seen! Not to be a douche, but it's actually spelled Basterds not Bastards(you guys spelled it the right way, but it's spelled the other way for the movie)

| trying to catch up on some movies. watched 2 back to back and really enjoyed both.
Inception -
good acting: Leo DiCap is a cool guy and talented actor. the supporting actors were fun to watch too.
great story: its a deep movie that makes you question things without making you completely clueless. imagine how much cooler Matrix would have been if it gave a little more depth to the characters instead of just action.
great F/X: there are some cool F-ing scenes in this movie.
verdict: good plot, good actors. some decent action bits, some good drama, some good suspense. overall i would definitely recommend this movie. was very entertaining on many different levels.
Black Swan -
great acting: the movie is focused only on Natalie Portman. the director even said this is his （edit) companion piece to his earlier movie "the Wrestler". if character dramas are your thing, you will enjoy this. you see a fragile girl find her strong points.
good story: cant really talk about it without giving anything away. but i enjoyed the story and watching the character deal with things. again, very one-dimensional (main character only) but it works.
good suspense: it doesnt really fit perfectly in any genre other than a character drama. its not a suspense per say, but it does thrill. its not a sports movie, but you see some interesting ballet. its not a horror, but it does scare. its a dark movie, and i like that.
verdict: if you liked the Wrestler (great acting.. should have got the Oscar) for its focus on one flawed but strong character, i think you will enjoy this too. i certainly did.

| I too recommend Inception. Anyone that doesn't like that movie is a bit suspect, IMO. *looks directly at banchu* LOL.

| Inception and Black Swan are both excellent movies. I must admit i kinda got lost towards the end of Inception lol
some the standout movies ive seen lately:
Hesher - Hesher is a loner. He hates the world and everyone in it. He has long greasy hair and homemade tattoos. He is malnourished and smokes a lot of cigarettes. He likes fire and blowing things up. He lives in his van, until he meets TJ.
13 Assassins - A group of assassins come together for a suicide mission to kill an evil lord.
Paul - Two British comic-book geeks traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51.
all 3 are pretty good flicks...if you have the time.

| Slumdog Millionaire
My initial reactions during & after watching this was that its an entertaining movie, and i was thoroughly engrossed in it. i love that its not a typical western "blockbuster" yet it has everything those movies have: drama, believable characters, love, suspense, chase scenes (in the real sense of the word!) and more. great cast of Indian characters, yet i wish the movie had more Hindi instead of English (authenticity and realism reasons). also, i really liked the character development, the look into the lives of these slum kids. but pairing that up with being on the game show and how it ties together was kinda stupid. still, a very good movie.

| 13 Assassins is one badass movie. If you like those kinds of movies Alu, I HIGHLY recommend Seven Samurai. It is old, but a damn good movie. It's in black and white too.
