Real downer on the YLODs dudes...

Same thing for me, PCs wrecked, itouch is messed up, cell is starting to go, and the last thing to bust on me, just a day ago was L3 on my good controller (newest one)... Too much sprinting I guess?? oh crap.

Last night I used the Mara/LW loadout a lot with the busted L3 controller while the old one was recharging and it was ok I guess...

YLOD is like AIDS for the PS3.. something u never wish upon anyone.
any guess as to how it happens? (ventilation, overheating, improper shut downs, etc?)
sucks to hear that. at least u got an Xbox to turn to.

@ban. this is one reason i got the FragnStein. custom buttoms. i have already ruined 2 controllers from fucking up the L3 button. not the button per se. the stick. i push the stick down and hold the direction too much, so its made my sticks loosey goosey. without any tension in them, its basically a worthless controller (still keep them just in case i ever get 3-4 ppl at my place to play PS3.. though this hasnt happened. ever.)

on that note, ive been using the dual shock for RDR, and i had no problems adjusting back to it. dont need pinpoint accuracy, so i feel this is more smooth/user friendly overall. that, and i can only use the weapon select wheel (ala R1) by moving the mouse up/down/left/right. not convenient.

Evidently it's thought to be caused by overheating, which results in the connection between the CPU & GPU being severed.

P.S. I'm back in full force with my new Slim 160GB PS3. (^_-)b

Adding To red's Comment, I Think The Solder Melts, From Constant Heatup/Cool Down, Causing This Disconnection Prob. the GPU &/Or CPU Loses Connection w/ The Motherboard, PS3 Interprets As Hardware Failure > YLOD.

This Is Just A Guess On My Part, But I Think The Power Supply May Be To Blame. My PS3 Died On Me A While Back (Flatout Dead, No Red Standby Light Or Anything) So I Got A Replacement. The Dead PSU I Removed Was Model # "ZSSR5391A" & That Shit Was HOT. The Replacement PSU Is APS-226. Far, Far Cooler. In A Way, Im Kinda Glad It Gaveout, Cause I Feel The PS3 Is Much Better Off Now. Better To Pay $40 Than $150.
