i think we all have questions on techy equipmenty stuff, ranging from editing programs, PS3 tweaks, PC settings, new stuff, and things we probably dont need but may have cool functions. on with the show!

EDIT: was gonna ask about standalone BluRay recorders, but (very easily) convinced "the boss" that we might as well get a new PC with a BR recorder. bada bing bada boom!

so, now i have the pleasure of asking u fine chaps, um, which PC would u recommend?
i basically want it all: speedy, powerful, big dicked. i mean, lots of RAM, decent HDD, beastly processing power. i want to be one of those fuckers that complains about it taking 15min to render a 10min clip.

price is not a problem, since its my money, bitch! (last part wasnt meant for u guys). probably in 1-2K range, i expect.

new pc eh kuz? Should be able to get a pretty buff laptop in that price range, based on what I saw in the shops a few months ago when I got mine. Im not using even a 5th of the processing power of my machine, since all I do is look at internet sites and download porn.

Cool on the blueray rec too - can u just record gameplay off that and format it for youtube and upload stuff that way?? I wouldnt mind recording some stuff I guess since there have been some pretty entertaining games lately I think, really funny kills, nice moves, and good scores too but I am totally turned off by the techie fiddling required w Sony Vegas Hauppage etc to do it... Id like to just plug something in that tapes stuff and play cod and see what I come up with. I dont even know how to make a forum sig!! LOL.

Ill just wait til something like that comes out, it goes without saying I guess.

Ive always been this way, I know if a car or bike or golf clubs or skis etc handle well or not and I understand the physics behind everything but I know nothing about what technically makes it possible, and I'm not all that interested in knowing either. I want to be able to tell them what I want and they do the setting up, and I do the rest... Selfish bastard eh??

no laptap hombre, PC. man, these things are 5x more powerful than the one i have now, and probably same price or cheaper than what i bought, years ago. thats good though, as i wont feel too guilty about shelling out the dough.

i wont be (or should say, havent thought of, and dont know if its possible) to record gameplay off bluray format. im going with the PC BRay because my wife barely watches tv, so we dont need to record shit off that. she just wants to put all the vidcam footage on BR discs. would this mean i could record BR movies from the internet too?? oooh, that sounds fun! but then, they must have thought of this, so i wonder if they sell pre-existing BR recorders on them, or i have to install it personally (not cool).

the Hauppauge and Vegas are not really that hard once they are setup and running. after that, i have no problems with the Hauppauge, and Vegas i can follow TUTs on the net if im in a pinch, or ask the wise guzanator.

i dont know everything, or hardly anything, but its fun for me doing some techy stuff. meh, the why is too much hassle. the "does it look cool" is enough for me!

EDIT: not excited about getting Japanese OS again, but i may not really have a choice. very hard to find English OS here. if they specifically cater to ex-pats, its usually at a premium cost. but someone mentioned i should ask the big electronic stores if they could just order the EngOS. hopefully

-------------

or how about this
http://www.froggie.sk/
found this site (questionable?), says the program is capable of changing the display language. which might be a hell of a lot easier & cheaper (IF it works) then trying to find an EngOS computer.. any thoughts? or the new windows vista/7 let u choose which display language, hope that would work well enough. i mean, i can live with japanese, but id rather not. then again, if its gonna cost me 200$ just to ship the thing, not sure if its worth it.

this looks like a great package, straight from DELL japan, and u can choose all the trimmings and customizations. very cool letting us choose what we want.

everything looks ideal. the only thing is "blu-ray disc drive" part. not sure if that means BR-ROM (read only), BR-R (write) or BR-RE (rewritable). other than that, and having to buy a mouse, it seems perfect. very powerful. also comes with 24' low-lag (5ms) monitor. all for approx 1.3K $.

I would go with ASUS because I personally have an ASUS laptop that can run Crysis on high. Not only that, but it can run any game at high or max settings and it has a Blu-ray player as well with a full 1080p LED screen.

I know you're looking for a PC, and ASUS does have some killer desktops.

The last link is for a top of the line gaming PC, but you get the idea. I probably would never buy any other computer other than ASUS after I got my laptop. Their build quality is great and so is their customer support. Not sure if this helps or not, but it should also come with access to ASUS storage, which is a cloud network so you can stash your files on their servers and systems.

Alienware would also be great for a powerhouse machine that you're looking for

thx niva. appreciate the advice.
yah ive been looking into things. alienware gets the best rep for gaming PCs, but im not sure im even going to play top of the line 3D games.

i actually wrote a msg to my wifes friends husband, who ive never met or talked to.. lol. i offered to pay him to help me build a PC from scratch, as that will not only save me money, but ill get everything exactly that i want. win/win. he said hed help, so im pretty stoked about that. i can do alot of the research, but i have no idea how to put it all together. *though there are TUTs for that, i obviously want a pro to help me.

will post details later.

You would definitely need a "pro", or someone who knows how to put together a computer. One little mistake and your money and computer has essentially gone down the drain. I know a little about putting together a PC, but I would never want to put one together because I'm afraid I may make one mistake and fry all my components.

Make sure you get proper cooling sources.

I like your idea of building your own PC, it saves you money and you get to learn about the machine. Not only that, but every time you see it you will be filled with joy and satisfaction knowing that you built it, or helped build it for that matter.

Good luck in building your computer.

I suggest you get an ASUS motherboard, and probably and AMD graphics card.

YES! I was gonna mention building a PC, but you seemed pretty set on not doing so, so I didn't. Besides, there are things that could arise, & being new to it could cause confusion & frustration.
Having someone there will definitely alleviate some problems.

So you guys know, building a PC is honestly really easy. The hard part is deciding on what you want.
Definitely though, personal building is the way to go.

Guz, I wouldn't go too far and say it's really easy. You also have to get proper cooling for your components as well. Many people don't really think about that, and they end up frying everything. Other than that, it is relatively simple. Picking parts is the easy part for me, lol.

OK then. It's just 'easy' lol.

Extra cooling is always welcome, bu unless you manage to mount heatsinks improperly (hard to do) or forgo putting one on at all, you should be OK.
or you get a defective concave heatsink...
or you forget to apply thermal paste...

LEAVE ME ALONE!

Not sure where to post this, is this a teckie thing, or just an "It Fing BLOWs" thing??

Anyways, just letting u fine fellow know the Assholes have won...

Today without warning, in the middle of a game on Favela I notice that I can hear my footsteps for some reason. Hm, wierd I think, but Im into the game and otherwise it was normal so I thought it was just some sort of glitch or something..

Since I just happened to be counting down to my 500th SPAS HS, like only 10- more or so last time I looked a few games before, and that little gold emblem, I was mostly spassing and I thought it was weird that I didnt have the extended mag number of bullets and when I went to fire my UMP it was unsilenced - weird again, I thought.

Had an ok game, first on my team and we win, and I quit out of the server cause of the weirdness.

But somethings weird still, my playertag is blank. Then I look at other stuff and I see that all my guns are still there but my pro perks, camos, emblems, titles, challenge stats and gun attachments are all gone, like completely, except for the holo sight on the M16 and HBS for the TAR, and a few others.

Dont know what this is, a hack or a IW memory bank failiure, but it is a bit of a bummer nonetheless. WinLoss, KDR, Accuracy stats are still intact - ironically enough the saved data that I care the least about... LOL.

Well, if it certainly is true that this stuff is all truly gone when I log in again in a few minutes, guess Ill prestige and keep playing this game, wow do I not care any more though!!!!
