Tier 3 Perks: Unlocked at Lvl 4. Cost 2000 COD pts

Marathon

Marathon will return in Black Ops as a tier 3 perk. It only allows the player to sprint longer instead of unlimited sprint, which is similar to Extreme Conditioning from Call of Duty 4 and World at War. Marathon Pro's effect is identical to that of Commando Pro's, where the player doesn't take any falling damage.
PRO CHALLENGES(known):
Marathon first blood * Get first blood # times
--------------------------------
Ninja

Ninja will return in Black Ops, again as a Tier three perk. It makes users' movement silent, similar to Dead Silence. Ninja Pro enables the player to move through Motion Sensors and Camera Spikes undetected.
--------------------------------
Second Chance

Second Chance will return in Black Ops, however any teammate will be able to revive downed player. Its pro effect allows the player to use equipment (for example a fragmentation grenade). The minimap icon for downed teammate is smaller than its World at War counterpart.
--------------------------------
Hacker

Hacker is a Tier 3 perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops. The perk has the same effect as SitRep from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However, its Pro effect is far different. It allows the user to booby trap enemy Care Packages and turn enemy killstreaks and equipment friendly
--------------------------------
Tactical Mask

Tactical Mask is a tier 3 perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops. It signifcantly reduces the effects of flash and concussion grenades. Its pro effect is unknown. Pro will give the user night vision goggles.

Just put in some random combos that could work:

SCAV/SOH/NINJA OR SECOND CHANCE - Run and Gunner

LW/SOH/MARATHON - Speedy Class

GHOST/HARDENED/NINJA - Stealth Class

HARDLINE/WARLORD/HACKER - Spec Ops type class

FLACK/HARDENED/MASK - Beefed up Class

SCAV/SCOUT/MASK - Sniper

Theres just a few I could think of..

now that ive had more time to think about them, some of the perks are growing on me.
i can now imagine all the tier 1 perks as possibly useful.

lightweight is a great perk, but it doesnt suit me much so ill probably focus on the others more.
scavenger has always been my fav, but since ill be new to the game ill opt to pass on it till i improve.
ghost will be great for any all-round kit, not just stealth.
flak jacket may prove useful, if ppl keep using toobs/launchers/explosives.
hardline is not terrible. and if used w/carepackage streak, may prove useful.

hardened does not make me hard. only useful if there are lots of thin walls. might use with LMG class.
scout and sniper, since i need to take my time. but if u have skill, this may not be necessary.
steadyaim will go great with SMGs and runner classes.
sleight of hand will be a premier perk, i imagine the most used in B.O.
warlord will be useful. as for myself, i like silencer + sights.

marathon with speedy class. i prob wont use it in a diff combination though.
ninja for anyone with headphones, or those afraid of give away position. pro makes it even better.
2nd chance for noobs. thought it might be fun to use if we all revived each other in a party.
hacker i think will be the surprise perk. i see it becoming very useful. will contend with ninja for 3rd tier perk.
tactical mask seems lame. i guess it could come in handy when someone chucks a caution nade, and gets no hit marker on u. then u can go blast him.

Hacker, while it sounds cool in theory, I just don't get. When people call in a care package, they are usually still in the vicinity. When do you get the chance to booby trap that sucker? Can you hack your own CP? Though I'd be suspicious it I saw one laying about. It seems more useful w/ claymores, but still. People are most likely using them to camp a room. They usually don't leave, right? Even if they did, they'd have to go on the same route w/ the claymore. (Personally, I use a window to escape if available.) Lastly, IDK how it works going against a "reverse" claymore, but you know how you can run past a claymore, trip it, but still survive? If you are behind it & run down some stairs or w/e, it seems like it'd be even easier to avoid.

It definitely looks cool, but in practice, IDK.

I'll run SoH constantly if people wanna pull that Robert Muldoon vs. Velociraptor Crap on me!

i agree. i doubt hacker would work with hacking claymores.

but its said to be able to hack killstreaks. to me, that means SAM turret and sentry gun.
as for affecting enemy equipment, i gather that to mean if u see a camera, jammer, or motion sensor, u can hack it to make it friendly and work for you instead of the enemy.

also, i assume hacker will spot ALL equipment. in addition to claymores/c4, u will be spotting the cams, jamms, and sens. to me, that puts it on very equal footing as ninja. u lose ur tiptoe effect, but gain the ability to see every piece of equipment and thus save ur ass, the same way ninja does.

AAH. now i get it. like u said, i bet u CAN booby trap ur own CP. that would make perfect sense!! i always thought it was booby trap the enemies, but that makes NO sense. doing it on your OWN CP makes it very very sneaky!!!! and will definitely get u kills!! but i bet the CP blows up and u dont get any streak/weapon from it.

Speaking of booby traipping your CP. How does it really work??

Would it be somthing like:

If you don't like what you get in the CP and you have Hacker perk on, then u can set explosives. Or

Do you hack it before the CP arrives?

I'm wondering a couple other things about the CPs too. Can you still take the contents of the crate, then hack it, effectively leaving a empty "Trap" crate?

Also, does the symbol on the crate change? (If there even is one) If there was a Big KS there, again, I'd be suspicious.

only a guess, but i would assume u must manually hack the crate (go up to it, press an action button). i would assume that u can not get the streak/item + leave an empty box to trap.

but i still wonder if u could hack it, blow up an enemy from trap (ala claymore) and still get crate? but i doubt it. so i will guess that its either:
take the goodies
or
set bomb for bad guy

though, if u used this in tandem with hardline, u could then have 2 chances to get something really good. and if both crates sucked, u could use hacker to get a booby kill. i just said *booby kill*. boobies ftw?

but that would be alot of time, now wouldnt it? lol. we'll see. ill still try it out, just cuz its different.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCzYIWbZ3Pg&hd=1 official vid

hacker (confirmed thru official vid):
detect enemy equipment and explosives
pro: can sabotage enemy equipment, turrets and crates. invisible to motion sensor.

dude goes to enemy cam, turns it friendly. and developer stated "the guy who owns that equipment WONT know that u changed it" (so i guess they thnk it just was destroyed)

also shows that all killstreaks are interactive:
manual control RC.
manual control mortal strikes
manual control chopper gunner
manual placement of attack chopper (where u want it to hover)
manual control of valkyrie rockets (looks like predator full speed, hard to turn)
manual control of gunship (looks extremely hard. the way it is for BadCo Apache or whatever)

-----------
big news. confirmed.
SHOTGUN is primary weapon.
------
they put quadrants on map (when press select) so u can call out locations easier. ex: A2, D4
-------------
straight to prone, confirmed.
developer paraphrase: "while u can drop directly to prone, u will have a 1/2 second penalty where u cant use ur weapon, to stop it from being used aggressively as a kill tactic."

I keep seeing things/comments that make it sound like your first perks determine your 3rd perk. I searched it up, but don't see anything on it.

i think that would be too constricting. and fucking oppressive!
the 1st perk determines your player model, that is for sure. they better not link 1st/3rd though...

I thought they were saying they were doing it for balance, but again, can't find anything on it. The way I took it was the combination of first & second perks determined the third.

well, we can only hope that they dont do that shit.
cuz that would completely change the way the game is played, or at least how u choose to play it.
i have just about finished a list of my classes, thought out pretty carefully. ill post them up very soon.

I'm probably flat out wrong. I just don't understand why people are discussing it & I can't find any info regarding it.
