I really like the game, I get frustrated at times, especially how in FFAs, the maps are so damn big. I want small maps where I have a higher chance of encountering people. I have little patience going around lookin for people only to end up getting killed from behind. Especially when I finally find somebody and some other idiot killls me. angry

Got the game. Bro mostly played, I watched. It's definitely better, but I wouldn't say the game is balanced. Need more time.

I hate lightsabers.

u guys may not like it, but i think Crisis looks like a dope map! all the tunnels, sand, upper levels, buildings. pure fun for me.
personally, im really sick of maps like cracked, where its just a city with absolutely no aesthetic value. i love something with at least a little bit of nature, jungle, EARTH. i guess having played Modern warfare one and two makes me sick of those types of city maps. i like something new.

That jungle map is fun, really intense graphics - you dont really notice when playing yourself, but when someone else s on the sticks, it's quite a lot to take in. Intense iin the way that, it kinda looks like a pc game and the background, hard to describe but it blurs (or something) a bit when the reticule is sweeped. That my TV??

actually, now just watched Woodys recent clip. in it, he states that it was he who contacted a developer via tweet, and got the response that they will change it, so that footsteps can be heard, but doesnt know exactly how much *or only for Ninja Pro, for example. anyways, the fact that Treyarch realizes they fucked up, but are willing to change it soon, tells me they are on the ball. how long did it take IW to fix some of the dumb glitches, like certain silenced guns still showing on radar, the uber range of dual 1887s, etc. months.

how u liking the game Red/Ban/Guz??

i still havent got word on my copy... they better contact me by tomorrow.

It's alright, but just kind of a bit *meh*-ish. I'm thinking that'll go away as soon as I become accustomed to the game a bit more & more J's get the game, therefore cutting down on the lag.

Also, I think Guzman might have been referring to the knives... I could be wrong, though.

Does anyone know what happens if you shoot off all the mannequins within 30 seconds in nuketown? I'm eager to find out. Maybe when there are enough of us are on we can go to private lobby and try it out. Get it recorded and see what happens. For those who are unaware there are 42 mannequins to shoot heads off and is to be done within 30 seconds...

Regarding the mannequin thing, supposedly it gives you another zombie map. I heard it had to be done within a minute, not 30 seconds.

You guys know about the zombie maps you can get from the interrogation menu?

Also, def feeling the game a bit more now. I just hate how to get some Pro perks you've got to play some obj games. That's gay.

P.S. Sowy for not partying up. You guys know how I am on new games with FFA. I always go solo for a bit. It helps me learn maps & other things at a much more rapid pace, IMO. It's nothing personal. Mad <3'a to all of you. LOL.

OK. After playing Black Ops for a reasonable period, I've got my impressions of it. Rather than writing up some long essay on it, I'll just put some general points about the game.

Good:
-Explosives weak. My bro disagrees, but for the most part it seems a direct hit is required, Many attempted RC car kills on me have failed due to distance, only a few nade/nade launcher deaths.
-Perks (w/ the exception of ghost) are balanced. no SP or Jugg is cool.
-Mostly decent maps. can't complain.

Bad:
-Bad connections. This was coming, so I can't honestly complain about it, but it doesn't seem comparable to MW. 95% of the games I've played I've been on 3 bars. 3 bars on MW was great. I could win ~75% of gunfights. Here, I lose probably 80% of straight gunfights, regardless of what gun I'm using. I need the jump on a guy to win. My ping is in the 80ies, which is probably the culprit. Being in a rural area though, it's the best available.
-No footsteps. I'm constant;y caught off guard, silencer or no. If they fix this I'll most likely cut down on around 1/2 my deaths I'd bet.
-Spawns are total shit. self explanatory, related to above. Good luck picking up that CP you just dropped!
-Nuketown. Aesthetically pleasing, NOT fun to play on, esp when people wanna replay it 5X in a row.
-Can't find anyone, or completely overwhelmed. has alot to do w/ teammates.

Ugly: (Not necessarily the game's fault, but bad parts of my GP)
-MW not translating to BO. I played MW to determine if I wanted it, & to get somewhat decent @ COD. So far it's not really working out.
-Can't play like I want. I don't need to be super aggressive, but I'd prefer not to have to play defense all the time. Main;y connection related.
-Bad game sense. I make bad choices out the wazoo.

I was gonna make this "My" COD, where I planned on prestiging all the way, & really getting into it. IDK if I still will do all that, but I'll still play. While the comments above are overly negative, the game is still fun. & hopefully treyarch is on top of all the issues.

Good:
I liked it from the outset. It definitely helped that I was well-informed and put a lot of research into it, so there were no big surprises for me. The first reason why I like it is because its NOT mw3. I cant put my finger on how exactly, but the game feels fresh to me (mechanics, personality) though in fact most of it is borrowed from previous instalments. I like that this is less of a twitch shooter, less arcade-style. The weapons feel different. They seem to shoot faster, have more recoil, but at the same time don’t kill faster. I like the game because it doesn’t seem noob friendly. I’ve probably only been killed by noob toobs a ½ dozen times in 11 hours of playing, as apposed to a ½ dozen times every game. It is now difficult for one guy to take on 2-3 and survive. I like that you need to pop fire at distance (as it should be) which means aiming, restraint and timing. I like the customizability, not for the blingy/gimmicky aspect of it, but because it makes me feel involved in the game and not just following a predetermined progression. The guns just seemed balanced. Nothing seems overpowered or out of whack. Sniping was reverted back to its roots; none of that gay quick-scoping nonsense. I love the inclusion of different equipment and the tactics that go with them. I like that the maps are asymmetrical. I like the randomness, the nooks/crannies, the alternate routes. I like that its harder to kill, and easier to escape when fired upon. I love the sounds of the weapons; they are dirty and more realistic. And the “hisssss” of silencers.. omg, so sexy!!
Bad:
I expected it to happen, but it doesn’t mean I like having to play games on yellow bar. For those guys who play yellow often (and do well), I dearly respect you, but I passionately hate playing that way. Its like playing the game crippled. When the killcam shows me shooting 10 feet off a target I had in my sights, that just gets me so aggravated. This still affects us playing with friends overseas, so it’s a constant area of disappointment.
I actually am not worried about L/M so far, but I really cant fucking stand all the knifing that is going on. I can be 5 feet away, to the side, and I get slashed by some guy who already passed me. Chub. do you remember that gamewinng "kill" on Firing Range last night? I knew that guy was following me, I dropped a nade at the door, was back in a corner ADS, and pre-fired on him. I get 3 shots landed, but he still comes through, climbs stairs, and knives me. I don’t like that a panic button (intentional/unintentional) can get the easy 1hit kill. You turn a corner and “slash” your dead. Dumbness. I feel like Ive been killed more from knives than from actual SMG fire. Either I’m a brain-dead sloth, or this knifing crap is getting ridiculous.
Spawns in TDM are absurd. Honestly, I think they mucked up and used the same spawn system as FFA. I have spawned 10 feet from a guy to the side, or deep within enemy territory, surrounded by 4 guys.
Napalm is stupid effective. When I have been clearly safe from a direct hit, the fire still “catches” on me though it doesn’t burn anything around me. This has happened quite a few times. I’ve had many WTF moments.
Ugly:
I can not use the Fragnstein with any of the manual-aiming killstreaks. IRL, (and in theory, for Blops), the RC car is actually quite easy to use (I’ve had a few when I was younger) but not when the turning is done with the mouse. I can only move about 1-3degrees, so this streak is impossible for me. Similar with the Valkyrie Rockets, though I can sometimes salvage it if I go up in the sky, arch it, then bring it back down like a mortar. Still, very gimped turning with this one. Chopper gunner, as I said before, felt like I was turning a 300 pound steering wheel. Extremely gimped, not worthwhile at all. Gunship is not as bad, but still stiff. Still, not worthwhile if im giving up ½ the kills that I could have got with normal tension in the controller. I don’t know why this is like this. I use 6 sensitivity and I can turn fine for regular gameplay. Also, this game, like the others, seems to be all about being in a party. When we had 4+ rolling together, we whooped ass. When it was just 1-2, playing against a small party, we/I often got murdered. There is something to be said from strength in numbers, working together, and giving support. Without those things, its just too easy to be dominated.

In short, I will be playing this game. ALOT. I think its the best COD of the 3 I've played. (yes, there are some bugs.. but its been 1 week. they will fix them). I will be prestiging all the way, despite my better judgement. Though I miss using all the guns/perks, I might try something funky like weapon-specific prestiges! (ex: SMGs for prestige1, AR prestige 2, LMG p3, shotty/sniper p4, etc.) or same thing with perks, so that I can try them all out at full force.

Good posts, guys. All valid points & observations, IMO.

Started playing some TDM last night. It's such a different dynamic, but hopefully I can learn pretty quickly. The vantage points & routes are a bit different than FFA, but I learn from my deaths & they help me understand the map better.

WMD lastnight was a perfect example, methinks. First TDM on it I broke even. Second game on it I was 2.0, but not at #1. 3rd match WMD & the last match of the night I went 30-3 and RELEASED the HOUNDS. It was actually my first earned AD killstreak, since I typically run 3-5-7 in FFA.

I'm not saying I'm always going to beast. I'm just saying "Bare with me until my TDM nub-ass understands the dynamics"! It was fun looking in other places & figuring out the spawn points in TDM!

P.S. ban/chu! Stop calling that gun the "GAUL"! LOL.
